Andrea Mancini is a Florentine illustrator, painter, and art educator. He began as a cartoonist at a young age by studying with the master animator Tomislav Spikic (from Zagreb Film) and advertising design with Leonardo Mattioli. In the 1980s his career in visual communication encountered a significant turning point when he was hired by Leader, the creative advertising company run by Gilberto Filippetti. Subsequently as a freelance illustrator, he often frequented Paris and New York to further his professional development through studios of artists and designers such as Massimo Vignelli, Lubalin and Peckolick, Seymour Chwast, and Andy Warhol. In the same period, he exhibited his works for the first time at the Bologna Art Fair, Japan, and the US. In the 1990s Andrea gained expertise in digital painting and in 1999 his animated graphic design project was featured in the “Lohengrin” opera production by Luca Ronconi at the Comunale theater in Florence. In 2000 he won the Fiorino prize for the visual arts and a selection of his works was purchased by the Museo Marino Marini in Florence. Andrea currently creates illustrations for creative advertising and fashion companies, teaches fine arts, and is a brand ambassador for Wacom Europe. Watercolors, both traditional and digital, are his preferred medium.
