Bentrovati! Dal 24 al 29 settembre 2025 ho avuto l’onore di partecipare al 9º Busan Global Webtoon Festival, uno dei più importanti eventi internazionali dedicati al mondo del webtoon e dell’arte digitale.La manifestazione, ospitata al Busan Cultural Content Complex e al Sohyang Theater Shinhan Card Hall, ha riunito artisti, autori, editori e professionisti del settore provenienti da tutto il mondo per celebrare la creatività e l’innovazione della narrazione visiva contemporanea.
Sono stato invitato a rappresentare l’Italia come ospite speciale del Festival, su invito dei curatori Jung Hoon Nam e Dong Whee Kim, su progetto ed in collaborazione con Accademia Nemo di Firenze. La mia partecipazione ha segnato un momento importante: eravamo infatti l’unica realtà formativa e l’unico artista europeo presente alla manifestazione: il primo a esporre un progetto webtoon italiano nel contesto del festival coreano.
La Cerimonia di Apertura e la mostra “Webtoon Debut Works”
Durante la Opening Ceremony, ho avuto il privilegio di salire sul palco insieme ai più celebri artisti coreani del settore, tra cui Q-ha Superani, Park Chang-Ha, Lee Jong-beom, Kim Jun-ho, e molti altri nomi di spicco della scena asiatica. L’atmosfera era straordinaria, tra performance, incontri e la celebrazione dei Golden Bridge Awards, i premi che ogni anno riconoscono le migliori produzioni webtoon internazionali.
Nella grande mostra collettiva del festival, sono stato incluso nella sezione “Webtoon Debut Works Exhibition”, dedicata alle nuove opere e agli autori emergenti selezionati a livello globale.
In questa occasione ho presentato il mio webtoon Kael – Masters of Crystal, una graphic novel fantasy-sci-fi ambientata nella città volante di Aerath, che unisce la tradizione pittorica europea al linguaggio dinamico del fumetto coreano digitale.
Talk Show e Incontri Ufficiali
Tra gli eventi ufficiali del festival ho partecipato al Global Webtoon Insight (Talk Show), un panel di discussione dedicato alla cultura e all’evoluzione del webtoon contemporaneo, in cui ho raccontato la genesi e la visione artistica dietro il progetto Kael – Masters of Crystal.
Nel corso del Drawing Talk Show, ho invece avuto l’occasione di mostrare la mia tecnica e di discutere insieme ad altri autori internazionali i processi creativi che collegano la pittura tradizionale all’illustrazione digitale e al visual development per il webtoon.
Live Painting con i maestri coreani
Durante i giorni della manifestazione ho partecipato anche al Live Painting Event, un’esperienza intensa e condivisa con grandi maestri dell’illustrazione coreana come Q-ha Superani e Park Chang-Ha.
Davanti al pubblico, ho realizzato – con tecniche pittoriche tradizionali – un ritratto dal vivo di Lysara, la protagonista femminile di Kael – Masters of Crystal.
È stata l’occasione per unire la mia esperienza nella pittura classica alla narrazione fantasy del mio webtoon, trasformando il momento in un dialogo tra culture visive: la pittura europea e la scuola coreana del digital painting e del webtoon design.
Un ponte artistico tra Italia e Corea
Partecipare al Busan Global Webtoon Festival è stato un privilegio e un’esperienza indimenticabile. Ho avuto la possibilità di presentare un progetto italiano in un contesto internazionale di altissimo livello, condividendo la scena con alcuni dei più influenti autori e creatori della scena webtoon mondiale.
L’invito del Festival e il caloroso supporto dei direttori Jung Hoon Nam e Dong Whee Kim hanno reso possibile questa straordinaria collaborazione, che rappresenta non solo un riconoscimento personale ma anche un ponte culturale tra Italia e Corea del Sud, tra la tradizione pittorica fiorentina e il futuro della narrazione digitale.
Tornerò presto a raccontare nel dettaglio, qui sul blog, i momenti più significativi di questa splendida esperienza e i nuovi sviluppi del progetto Kael – Masters of Crystal.

Kael – Masters of Crystal at the Busan Global Webtoon Festival 2025
From September 24 to 29, 2025, I had the honor of participating in the 9th Busan Global Webtoon Festival, one of the most prestigious international events dedicated to webtoons and digital art.
Held at the Busan Cultural Content Complex and the Sohyang Theater Shinhan Card Hall, the festival gathered artists, authors, and creative professionals from around the world to celebrate visual storytelling and innovation in the digital age.
I was invited to represent Italy as a special guest of the Festival, thanks to the kind invitation of Jung Hoon Nam and Dong Whee Kim, in collaboration with Nemo Academy of Florence.
It was a milestone experience — I was the only European artist featured in the festival and the first Italian webtoon creator ever to participate in this major Korean event.
Opening Ceremony and “Webtoon Debut Works” Exhibition
During the Opening Ceremony, I had the privilege of appearing on stage alongside some of the most renowned Korean artists, including Q-ha Superani, Park Chang-Ha, Lee Jong-beom, Kim Jun-ho, and other leading names in the Asian webtoon and illustration scene.
The evening was vibrant and inspiring, marked by live performances, special guests, and the prestigious Golden Bridge Awards, celebrating the best webtoon productions of the year.
In the main exhibition area, my project was showcased in the “Webtoon Debut Works Exhibition”, the section dedicated to new international creators.
Here I presented my webtoon Kael – Masters of Crystal, a fantasy–sci-fi graphic novel set in the floating city of Aerath, merging European painterly traditions with the dynamic language of Korean digital storytelling.
Official Events: Talks and Insights
As part of the official program, I took part in the Global Webtoon Insight (Talk Show) — a panel exploring the global culture and evolution of the webtoon medium — where I shared insights on the creative process behind Kael – Masters of Crystal and its artistic philosophy.
I also joined the Drawing Talk Show, where artists demonstrated their techniques and discussed how traditional painting methods can coexist and blend with modern digital illustration and visual development for webtoons.
Live Painting with Korean Masters
Throughout the festival days, I participated in the Live Painting Event alongside legendary Korean illustrators such as Q-ha Superani and Park Chang-Ha.
In front of the audience, I created — using traditional painting techniques — a live portrait of Lysara, the female protagonist of Kael – Masters of Crystal.
It was a unique and emotional experience, combining my background in classical fine art with the expressive power of webtoon fantasy, and creating a true artistic dialogue between European and Korean visual cultures.
A Cultural Bridge Between Italy and Korea
Participating in the Busan Global Webtoon Festival was a profound honor and a memorable artistic experience.
It offered me the opportunity to present an Italian webtoon on an international stage, alongside some of the world’s most influential webtoon artists and creators.
The invitation from the festival directors Jung Hoon Nam and Dong Whee Kim made this collaboration possible and meaningful, symbolizing a bridge between Italy and South Korea, between Florentine painting tradition and the future of digital storytelling.
